چکیده

The molecular structure and hydrogen bonding of water molecules at the CCl4/water interface in the presence of a charged soluble surfactan t has been explored in this study using vibrationa l sum frequency generation . By examining OH stretching modes that are highly sensitive to the local hydrogen bonding environment it is found that water molecules at the CCl4/water interface both in the presence and absence of a charged soluble surfactan t are predominantly in a tetrahedral arrangemen t much like the structure of ice. Isotopic dilution studies have been employed to further characteriz e this icelike interfacia l structure . A blueshift of approximately 120 cm of the icelike OH stretching mode is observed upon dilution with D2O. The first vibrationa l spectra of the OH stretching mode from uncoupled HOD molecules at the CCl4/water interface is also reported. © 1997 American Institute of Physics. S0021-96069703346-1

Probing the Structure of Water Molecules at an Oil/Water Interface in the Presence of a Charged Soluble Surfactant through Isotopic Dilution Studies

We have employed vibrational sum frequency generation (VSFG) to obtain the first vibrational spectra of water molecules at an oil/water interface in the presence of a charged, soluble surfactant. By examining OH stretching modes that are highly sensitive to the local hydrogen-bonding environment, we have been able to compare the structure of interfacial water molecules with the structure of bul...

Potential Dependent Alignment and Hydrogen Bonding of Water Molecules at Charged Air/Water and CCl4/Water Interfaces

We observe potential dependent alignment and hydrogen bonding of interfacial water molecules at a charged air/water and CCl4/water interface. The interfacial potential is a result of the presence of charged soluble surfactant adsorbed to the interface. We vary the interface potential by changing the surface charge density, the ionic strength, and the temperature while monitoring OH stretching m...

In this paper, NMR and QTAIM analysis for three substituted of T2SA complex was investigated in the gas and four solvents at DFT level. Intermolecular O–H…N hydrogen bonds between 1,2,4,5-Tetrazine and Sulphurous acids enhance the stability of complex.1,2,4,5-Tetrazine is a highly reactive diene for [4+2] inverse-Diels–Alder cycloaddition processes and an excellent precursor to attain the pyrid...

In this paper, the hydrogen bonding (HB) effects on the NMR chemical shifts of selected atoms in serineand serine-nH2O complexes (from one to ten water molecules) have been investigated with quantummechanical calculations of the 15N and 13C tensors. Interaction with water molecules causes importantchanges in geometry and electronic structure of serine. For the compound studied, the most importan...
